About Us

SEBIJAK INSTITUTE is the Research Center for Forest Policy and History Studies at the Faculty of Forestry UGM. It is dedicated to conducting research that contributes to the production of high-quality (empirically rich and theoretically sound) scholarship, better policies, and a more robust public discourse. It aims to become a premier research center, contributing to the betterment of forest policy and governance in Indonesia. Sebijak Institute currently focuses on the following topics: policy and power networks, governance, land tenure and access, community-based forest management, land use policy and politics, environmental justice, legality verification and sustainable forestry. In addition, it develops methodological advances for forest policy and governance studies. Sebijak Institute is also engaged in monitoring and evaluation projects, delivering results based on proven methods and orientation toward practical application.
